Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, often called Ashanti was born on October 13, 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Ashanti, a teenage actor and singer in the US, has been signed to Murder Inc. Records to record in 2002. That same year, she was featured in Fat Joe's What's Luv? Ja Rule's track, Always On Time and Fat Joe's What's Luv? First female artist to make it into the Billboard Hot 100's top two positions in the United States, with Foolish on number one and What's Luv? The first female artist to hold the highest two positions on the American Billboard Hot 100 and with the number one spot held by Foolish. one and What's Love? We can celebrate this special day by celebrating it together. Ashanti Douglas, or Ashanti as she is more commonly known was born at Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas her mother is a dance instructor from the past. Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas her father is a singer from the past. She is Kenashia's sibling. She is the oldest. Douglas named her after her mother, the Ashanti Empire located in Ghana in which women ruled and influence. Douglas wanted Ashanti to follow the same model. James' grandfather worked for Martin Luther King Jr. as a civil rights advocate during the 1960s. The Ashanti's mother discovered her talent following her performance of Mary J. Blige Reminisce.
